Carley Wellman McAbee, Principal
Carley has spent the past two decades working in the nonprofit sector. Her work has taken her around the world and spanned a wide variety of organizations focused on issues as varied as health and women, K-12 education, arts and culture, climate change, international development, service learning, financial literacy, youth philanthropy, and behavioral health. She has written and managed fundraising campaigns and grants ranging in size and scope from under $1,000 to $750,000 and has helped grow the development programs of organizations from small start-up nonprofits to well-established institutions.
With a lifelong commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism, she co-founded Be Kind FoCo, a local youth philanthropy initiative and kindness expo, and she serves on the steering committee of Leadership Fort Collins and on the board of directors of 911 for 911.
Carley holds a master’s degree in creative writing and English from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a bachelor’s degree in English from Michigan State University. She taught English in South Korea and served in the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe before beginning her career in the nonprofit sector. She lives in Fort Collins with her husband, Kevin, and their three children.
